Exam Writing Feedback

From £19.99 per essay

If you are taking an English exam with a writing element (such as IELTS or Cambridge FCE, CAE, and CPE) you are probably completing practice papers and essays to develop your skills. If you aren’t, then you should be! With our Exam Writing Feedback, our experienced teachers will fully correct your essays and provide feedback and advice to improve your grades. Choose from our packages and save by getting multiple essays corrected.

Both IELTS and Cambridge exams include two tasks. IELTS writing exams have a minimum word count of 150 words for task 1 and 250 for task 2 (a total of 400 words), although many students find themselves writing more. There is no upper word limit, but there is also no need for students to write excessively, as marks are awarded for accuracy and quality, not quantity. Tasks for Cambridge exams vary in length, but are usually around 250 words each (a total of 500 words for both tasks). They often specify a range (e.g. 240 to 280 words) that should not be significantly exceeded.

For Exam Writing Feedback, we consider one ‘essay’ to cover the writing element of one exam, including both tasks (around 400 to 1000 words). If your writing is over 1000 words per essay, consider purchasing our Developmental Editing packages instead.

We recommend exam writing correction if:

You are practicing writing for an exam (such as IELTS) and would like your essays corrected with feedback so you know you are achieving your goals.

CV/Résumé Editing
from £19.99

CV/Résumé Editing

From £24.99 per CV

A CV (curriculum vitae - Latin for ‘course of life’), also known as résumé in North America, is a short document used to summarise your education and experience. They are rarely longer than one or two pages and are most often required when applying for a new job. This is typically the first information that a potential employer will read about you, and the first stage of many job applications. As such, it is important that your CV is confident and concise.

The good news is that we can help! Using our experience in education, employment, and the English language, we offer our editorial services of proofreading, line & copyediting, and developmental editing for your next job application. You can read more about these different types of editing detail above, but due to the unique nature of the CV as a document in both length and formatting, our services are priced differently here to offer you a more focused service.

We recommend CV/Résumé Editing if:

You are in the process of applying for a new job or other situation that requires as CV (such as an academic course application), you have a CV or résumé that needs updating, or you want a fresh set of eyes to make sure you have the edge in your next application.

Developmental Editing

£24.99 per 1000 words

With developmental editing, our editors will assess your document or manuscript as a whole, make changes, and provide extensive advice and feedback to improve the creative aspects of your hard work. This is the most comprehensive form of editing we offer for longer documents, and aims to help writers shape a first draft or work in progress. For both fiction and non-fiction writing, our developmental editing will involve an evaluation of your style, structure, and content. For works of fiction, this extends to story elements of plot, pacing, and characterisation.

In addition to our changes, we will add detailed comments and annotations to your manuscript offering suggestions and strategies for improvement. After the editing process is complete, we will hold an online meeting with you to discuss and expand upon our feedback, share opinions, and answer any questions you may have. We will assist your vision and give you the advice you need to take your writing to the next level.

We recommend developmental editing if:

You have a complete, or nearly complete draft of your document or manuscript and would like our advice and assistance to develop your work and improve your writing style.

Proofreading
from £14.99

Proofreading

£14.99 per 1000 words

With proofreading, our editors will read through your document or manuscript to find and correct any errors that have been missed during previous drafts or earlier stages of the editing process. These are generally spelling and punctuation errors, but may also include errors in grammar. Proofreading is a more minimal form of editing which does not seek to drastically change the style or content of a document or manuscript. Consequently, it usually occurs at the end of the writing and editing process, when the document is essentially finished, and merely needs another, detailed reading by a new set of eyes.

We recommend proofreading if:

Your writing is in a relatively complete state, almost ready for submission or publication, and does not need significant changes to the style or sentence structure.

Line & Copyediting

£19.99 per 1000 words

With line and copyediting, our editors will read through your document or manuscript in detail to address your writing at the sentence level and ensure it is clear and easy to read. Line editing specifically refers to going through a piece of writing line by line. This form of editing addresses style and language, including sentence structure, phrasing, rhythm, and use of description. This can be especially helpful for anyone writing in a second language, but can be beneficial to all writers who wish to elevate their writing.

Copyediting is similar to proofreading (see above), in that it focuses on sentence errors such as punctuation and spelling. However, copyediting also extends to the organisation and presentation of a document or manuscript at the paragraph level to improve the flow and consistency of your writing. We include both aspects as part of our line and copyediting service.

We recommend line and copyediting if:

The structure and content of your writing is complete, but you would like to make your work clearer and more readable by improving the style and language.

Short Text Editing

£3.99 per 100 words

Our formative short text editing service provides a thorough evaluation of a shorter piece of writing up to 1000 words in length, such as an email, letter, or short article. This is designed as a learning experience for anyone looking to develop their functional English or improve their writing in a second language.

Our expert editors will provide feedback by annotating your work with a focus on language and grammar points with examples and context. If your piece of writing is over 1000 words, consider purchasing our Developmental Editing packages instead.

We recommend Formative editing if:

You would like a short piece of writing, such as a letter, email, or article corrected, with those corrections explained in detail as a learning experience.
