Great British Icons

This Focus on Learning resource can be used to learn about British icons and culture. It is designed to be used as a self study, but can also be used as the basis of a lesson plan for students in class.

There are a number of activities which can easily be adapted into opportunities for speaking practice.

This 6 page lesson can be used individual, for one to one or group classes. It contains two versions one with and one without answers.

In this lesson, students will discuss famous recognisable icons and identify icons from their own countries, before learning about some more obscure British icons.

Topics include food, places, cockney rhyming slang, Shakespeare’s idioms, and national treasure Brian Blessed.
